Hey Ya’ll
I’ve been doing some reading lately on permaculture and while a lot of it gets really crunchy and “woo woo” really fast, one principle has stayed on my mind and that’s the zone concept.
https://www.permaculturenews.org/2015/12/11/permaculture-zones-of-use-a-primer/
basically inside your house is zone 0 and the further you go the more “wild” things get.
i started to realize looking at my kit locker and packing lists an interesting way to possibly organize and categorize it all could fall along similar lines during a “hard times“ scenario. Zones 0 and 1 might feature a simple gun belt setup with a pistol and knife and flashlight for being just around and near the house, Zones 2-4 can start to sub out and/or add rifles and chest rigs and such zone 5 and more can really add on day packs and rucksacks and belt kits to stay out longer and do more activities.
i think we all get trapped into the search for the one true setup but the reality is, in more self sufficient hard times world we’ll have to be able to scale up and down from walking the immediate homestead with a gun belt and rifle to hiking to the next county over with the boys for a long range patrol. This zone concept has helped me sort of categorize and organize my weapons and kit and packing lists to help move up and down that scale. Would love to hear ya’lls thoughts.
The concept makes sense.
